The newest foot from Ohio Willow Wood is the DuraLite™ Foot, designed for amputees who want a light-weight foot that performs for active lifestyles. The foot, available starting September 21, is best suited for amputees classified as a strong U.S. Activity Level 2 or 3. The key to the foot’s lightweight yet strong, durable design is its composition of carbon fiber. Weighing only 356 grams, the DuraLite Foot holds its own among competitors. High marks for its light weight were given to the foot by patients involved in clinical testing. The test patients also gave kudos to the foot for its performance in daily activities such as yard work, gardening, and hiking as well as jogging. The DuraLite Foot offers several points for customization by practitioners. First, the DuraLite Foot may be paired with the practitioners’ choice of a proximal adapter, either a pyramid receiver or a rotating pyramid. Second, the shank of the DuraLite Foot may be cut as low as 5.9” when the heel height is 3/4”. The maximum length of the foot’s shank is 13”. This feature allows the foot to be suitable for a wide variety of amputees. Third, there are six composite toe spring stiffnesses. The stiffness variables include foot size, amount and type of patient activity, and patient weight. Each foot also comes with three heel wedges. The heel wedges are to be used to adjust heel stiffness to patients’ particular needs. Lastly, the DuraLite is available in two heel heights, 3/8” and 3/4”, and three foot shell colors. Other features of the DuraLite foot include a urethane toe pad that enhances medial/lateral motion. A split heel offers stability over uneven terrain. A Stair Guard is included with each foot and can be attached directly to the foot’s chosen proximal adapter. When achieving the foot’s minimum clearance range of 5.9” with a 3/4” heel height, the Stair Guard must be removed. The DuraLite Foot is competitively priced and comes with a 36-month warranty from purchase date. The unisex, high-activity foot shell, included standard with the foot, has a nine-month warranty. The patient weight limit is dependent on foot size, but has a maximum limit of 300 lbs. The suggested L-Code for the DuraLite Foot is L-5980. Ohio Willow Wood, located in Mt.
