Ohio Willow Wood’s latest endoskeletal component provides more natural motion for transfemoral and transtibial amputees. The company’s torsion adapter delivers smooth, more natural motion and rotation when used in prostheses as compared to those without. Ohio Willow Wood’s torsion adapter is the shortest on the market at 32.5 mm. The adapter is also one of the lightest available at 281 grams while also having one of the highest patient weight limits of 250 pounds. The torsion adapter provides up to 25 degrees internal and external rotation, yielding a total rotation of 50 degrees. The adapter’s interior torsion spring provides a fixed resistance to twisting and turning. High-performance polyurethane rods offer additional resistance. Three stiffness levels are included with each torsion adapter so practitioners can use the level best suited for their patients. Lastly, set screws on the torsion adapter’s medial and lateral sides may be adjusted to fine-tune the amount of stiffness the component provides. To ensure quiet operation, the torsion adapter has multiple built-in cushions. The adapter also has an internal stop at 25 degrees. These features benefit the wearer as the torsion adapter twists and turns, the resistance and cushioning increases with rotation so the amputee is not abruptly stopped. This component is well-suited for every day activities in which twisting and turning are advantageous. Versatility is also a feature of the torsion adapter. The distal end of the adapter has a threaded 4-hole pattern and can be used with a standard 4-hole adapter. The torsion adapter’s other end is a 36 mm threaded attachment point that can be used with a 3-prong adapter or threaded clamp adapter. Ohio Willow Wood, located in Mt.
