OMEGA® SCANNER HEADLINES RELEASE OF OMEGA® TRACER® 9.0

OMEGA Tracer version 9.0 was released internationally today by Ohio Willow Wood to the O&P industry. Released in conjunction with the prosthetic and orthotic software was the OMEGA Scanner, the newest shape capture CAD tool for the industry.

The update to OMEGA Tracer has several new features: new AK Comfort Cuff for Alpha DESIGN® AK Liners, centralized patient file and data storage, and when using the new OMEGA Scanner, the ability to create upper extremity sockets and DESIGN Liners.

Fully compatible with OMEGA Tracer software, the OMEGA Scanner is a hand-held, 3D laser imager. The OMEGA Scanner uses simple reflectors on limbs to capture shapes precisely and even accommodates limited patient movement during shape capture. The scanner weighs less than four pounds so the device is portable and easy-to-use. The OMEGA Scanner is accurate to +/- 0.5 mm over the entire surface area and can be paused and then resumed with no re-scanning necessary.

Expanded DESIGN Liner software tools include the AK Comfort Cuff and new modification tools. The Comfort Cuff, made of silver microbial fabric, is a special add-on feature for custom AK liners. The Comfort Cuff follows a socket’s brim angle and protects the liner from wear and tear. Modification tools include a new Fill Indentation control, for use especially when dealing with invaginations on limbs, and the ability to change the smoothing mode.

For the first time, OMEGA Tracer 9.0 software will help clinicians to create upper extremity prosthetic sockets and custom DESIGN Liners. To have access to upper extremity prosthetics, users will need the OMEGA Scanner. The hand scanner guarantees the best shape capture because it can accommodate some patient movement.

Lastly, OMEGA Tracer 9.0 ushers in a new pricing structure that allows the system to be affordable to both single facility offices as well as multiple location practices. For practitioner offices that have multiple OMEGA Tracer workstations in one facility, the new software version also provides a simple way to connect via a network.
